Beacon Action Group was formed in 1983 by local residents to resist insensitive development of the Great Barr Hall and Parkland. Over the last few decades there have been many proposed developments within Great Barr Park, which is Grade Two listed, protected green belt and registered parkland. These applications have been by small and major developers, none of which have been successful.
The action group is non political and comprises of a committee of local people eager to protect and retain the special character of Great Barr Park and are supported by local MP’s, Historic England and other statutory consultees. The group aims to inform the local community of all proposed planning applications for the site, so local people can consider the facts and have a voice on the future of this sensitive site.
